3-Way Battle Report
3-Way Battle Ampthill, Bedford & Biggleswade
29th October 2019
This evening we entered our first inter-club competition of the season against Bedford and Ampthill. I am delighted to report we won convincingly, a marked turn around from being beaten on the tie-break by Bedford last year.
It was far from plain sailing, high scores were few and far between with only four 20’s, there were numerous low scores down to 11. The judge Chris Foster was particularly brutal on still life and landscapes. Our only 20 was awarded to Brian Hunt for his PDI “Infinite Art”, congratulations Brian.
The evening started with prints and Biggleswade won the first four rounds and went on to win the print section by 1 point over Ampthill. Our best scores all getting 19 were “Beach Huts” and “Reminiscing” by Ian Gostelow and “The Connoisseur” by Judi Lipinski. The PDI section we won by 2 points over Bedford and 20 points over Ampthill. Our best scores being “infinite Art” by Brian Hunt with 20, “Gotcha” by Mark Glenister and “The Archer” by Roger Bradshaw both scored 19.
The overall results were as follows:
Ampthill | Bedford | Biggleswade | |
Prints | 166 | 156 | 167 |
PDI’s | 145 | 163 | 165 |
Total | 311 | 319 | 332 |
Biggleswade were represented by Brian Hunt, Ronnie & John Lane, Cathy Holgate and myself
