Tonight, was our first external competition of the season, this year held on zoom with over 130 viewers from the 12 clubs. 23 of the viewers were from Biggleswade.
Last year we were convincingly beaten coming 12th out of 14 clubs, thankfully this year we accredited ourselves somewhat better finishing 7thout of the 12 clubs that participated with Leighton Buzzard taking the title.

The judge Sarah Kelman gave a good assessment of each image and made use of the scoring to differentiate images scoring from 9 – 20 with an average score of 14.9, only 3 images scoring top marks. I don’t think given the quality of images we came off too badly except maybe “Hey Laddie” might have done better but clearly Sarah has seen too many bearded old blokes with the clarity turned up, possibly more surprising David Scott’s image “Autumn” didn’t score better being quite unusual. Well done to Ian Gostelow who achieved our highest score with his interpretation of Loch Etive.
Normally on these reports I would name check those that went along, but with half the club watching I shall pass on that enough to say it was a good showing from Biggleswade, I hope you all enjoyed it and for those who haven’t been to an external comp for some time (or ever) you may be interested in our next competition, which will also be a zoom session against Melbourn & District Photographic Club in the first round of the Melbourn Trophy on Tuesday November 17th.
