Update 06/08/26

First an apology for the disappearance of the July update. We were advised by our website host that the website had been compromised and they advised a restoration of the website from a backup. Unfortunately the back up predated the July update and so it disappeared.

Nik Collection V1

I’m repeating the information on finding the original Nik Collection here as it may be useful to members either now or in the future. If you wish to use the Nik Collection as a plugin in Affinity Photo (V3, it also works for V2) check out this article by Robin Whalley. 

Excire

The Cataloguing company Excire has just released Excire Foto 2027 an update to an earlier version and is offering it at a reduced launch price (even this is expensive!) but there is a 14 day trial available. It uses AI to keyword photographs and, I guess from the price, is clearly aimed at professionals who need to catalogue thousands of images. I’ve downloaded the trial to see how it works. The software was also reviewed in a recent copy of AP. There is also an AP coupon code (AMATEURPHOTO) that gets you an extra 15% on the discounted launch price of £199 but it’s still expensive.

Events

The National Street Car Rally is on at Shuttlewoth again this year Sunday 9th August. Adult tickets are £13. A bit short notice I’m afraid. I thought it was on the 16th.

The Ramsey 40s weekend is on 15th/16th August. Adult tickets are £10 for each day. Although not as good as it used to be, there are far fewer re-enactment groups than there used to be, for a tenner, which has been for years, I think it’s a good day out. Not very good if it’s going to be very hot as there is limited shade on the site and the re-enactment groups tend to have bagged most of it!
